Susan Swirbul founded GatorMoms.Net with her husband, Jay.  Susan has been a stay-at-home mom since the birth of their first child and has thoroughly enjoyed being a full-time mother for the past six years.  However, with both children going off to school, Susan wanted to pursue a flexible career that would allow her to still be at home when needed.  Enlisting a few of her passions in this endeavor, (writing, reading, socializing, having fun and of course THE University of Florida GATORS), led to the creation of GatorMoms.NET.  While researching for her site, Susan found that some other mom sites were interesting, but never felt like she connected with the authors or members of those sites, and the Gator websites available were heavily skewed to the male population with most of the content prefacing sports.  Being a woman that enjoys sports, that was fine.  However, she felt a lot of gator-loving women were being left out because although they may enjoy Gator sports they also enjoy reading about other women’s interests and information about other University of Florida endeavors; networking and socializing with a group of moms connected by a main common interest (our Gators); and shopping, laughing and winning cool things.  With a lot of help and encouragement from her husband, (he’s a Western Carolina grad, and a Gator-in-Training we like to say), GatorMoms.NET was developed.  She hopes that it will provide much enjoyment, enrichment and Gator camaraderie for its readers and members.  Go GATORS…Get Up and GO!  Please get up and go to our membership area and become a GatorMom today!

Susan Swirbul graduated with a bachelor's degree in Journalism / Advertising from the University of Florida. She worked as a Technical Recruiter in the computer consulting industry in Tampa, FL for over ten years before becoming a stay-at-home mom.  She now resides in her beloved hometown of Gainesville, FL with her husband and two children.
